Shibori Micro Pleat is the most technically complex product in the Sediment Series. A translucent textile is manually pleated, perforated, and shaped into micro pleats measuring approximately three millimeters in width. This finely structured surface is then treated with grey pigments that settle into the folds and recesses of the fabric.
The pleating process creates a dense yet delicate texture that reacts sensitively to light. Pigment particles accumulate differently within each pleat, enhancing depth and variation. The final glass surface has a calm, tactile presence and subtly references the sensibility of Japanese shibori pleating without direct imitation.
Shibori Micro Pleat is ideal for applications where light itself becomes a material, such as illuminated surfaces and delicate spatial partitions.
Applications: lighting, smaller decorative space partitions.
